Richard Edmond Gamache, Esq.

Richard Edmond Gamache is a Senior Patent Attorney with the law firm of Bainwood, Huang & Associates, LLC.  Mr. Gamache has been representing independent inventors, corporations, and universities before the United States Patent and Trademark Office since 1995.  Mr. Gamache handles all types of intellectual property related matters including patent and trademark prosecution, copyrights, and trade secrets.  His primary areas of expertise include a broad range of electrical, electronic, and computer-related technologies including systems, semiconductors, and software, as well as communication and networking technologies such as voice and video communications systems, mobile communications systems, high capacity digital communications systems, and network architectures.  

Before joining the Bainwood-Huang firm, Mr. Gamache was a Patent Attorney with the law firm of Chapin Intellectual Property Law, LLC, a Partner with the law firm of Weingarten, Schurgin, Gagnebin & Lebovici LLP, and an Associate with the law firm of Dike, Bronstein, Roberts & Cushman LLP.  Mr. Gamache also served as an in-house Patent Attorney for Teradyne, Inc., a leading automatic test equipment manufacturer, and worked as a Research Engineer for Mahr Federal Inc., where he performed research and development activities on dimensional gauging instruments using electrical and microprocessor hardware and software design techniques.  

Mr. Gamache graduated from Brown University with an Sc.B. degree in Electrical Engineering, and was admitted to the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society and the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honorary Society.  He received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, submitting his thesis entitled "A Monolithic LVDT Signal Processor" in partial fulfillment of the M.S. degree requirements.  He received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School, and was admitted to the Phi Delta Phi Honorary Legal Fraternity.

Mr. Gamache is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Mr. Gamache is a member of the Brown Club of Rhode Island and the URI Alumni Association.  He is also a Past Chairman of the Providence Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).  Mr. Gamache has given presentations to engineers, entrepreneurs, and business executives on a variety of intellectual property related topics.  He gave a talk at a meeting of the Providence Section of the IEEE entitled "Intellectual Property Considerations for Engineers", and hosted a presentation at a meeting of the Southeastern Massachusetts Venture Forum entitled "Intellectual Property Considerations for Entrepreneurs and Founders of Early-Stage Companies".  He was also a panelist at a meeting of the Brown Forum for Enterprise at Brown University, focusing on global intellectual property issues, and served as a judge at the Research, Innovation, and Scholarship Expo (RISE) at Northeastern University.  Mr. Gamache has twice been named a "Rising Star" in Massachusetts Super Lawyers - Rising Stars Edition from the publishers of Boston Magazine.
